Board of Director Nominations


JUNE 5, 2021

Four positions on the Board of Directors are open for election at the 2021 Annual Meeting of Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union scheduled for June 5, 2021. The nominating committee has nominated four individuals for election to three year terms: Jane Decoteau, Don Nickson, Timothy McGuiggan, and Barbara Doane.

Jane Decoteau
25+ Years of Service
Jane served as Director of Finance for the New York Thoroughbred Breeders from 1996 until her retirement as Executive Director in 2006. As Director of Finance of the Saratoga County YMCA from 1983 to 1996 she was instrumental in bringing the Y as an official "seg" group of the Credit Union. During her years at the Y she also served several months as Executive Director.

Don Nickson
15+ Years of Service
Don joined Saratoga’s Credit Union’s Board of Directors in 2006 and currently serves as Vice President/Vice Chairperson. His career started as a Special Education Teacher from 1968–1984. Don then served as principal for Northeast Parent & Child Society from 1984–1985 and Johnstown Elementary from 1985–2001. He currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director for the School Administrators Association of NYS.

Tim McGuiggan
3+ Years of Service
Tim currently serves as the Secretary on the Board of Directors and has served Saratoga’s Credit Union for 3 years. He graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Bachelors in Hotel Restaurant Management and obtained his Masters in Special Education through the College of Saint Rose. Tim has worked for Saratoga Springs City Schools since 1999 and currently heads the deparment of Business Education.

Barbara Doane
1+ Years of Service
As our newest board member, Barbara has brought over 45 years of experience serving on the Board of Directors of S I Employees FCU. She has been employed with Espey since 1970 in Drafting/ Engineering. Her prior experience with S I Employees FCU has consisted of serving as Secretary for approximately 35 years, then filling in on the Credit Committee and later as the Vice President.



Credit union members have the ability to petition for the position of Saratoga’s Community FCU Board of Directors. 

The petition window closed as of April 21, 2021.


Associate Director Opportunity

Saratoga’s Credit Union's Board of Directors desire to supplement the knowledge and experience of the present Board by appointing Associate Directors. An Associate Director is viewed as a means by which continuity of the Credit Union’s governance activities may be maintained since an Associate Director may be asked to fill a Board vacancy when it occurs.  An Associate Director does not have voting authority.

An Associate Director will be selected by ballot majority vote (5 votes) of the Board of Directors and serve a three year term. Continuation as an Associate Director will be subject to periodic Board review.


  • Must be a current Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union member in good standing
  • Attend a minimum of 6 board meetings per year
  • Attend strategic planning session
  • Attend all committee meetings for which appointed
  • Complete all required training as deemed by Executive Committee for all volunteers
