BOARD NOMINATIONS
Two positions on the Board of Directors are open for election at the 2024 Annual Meeting of Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union. The nominating committee consisting of Don Nickson, Jane Decoteau and Richard Thompson has nominated two individuals for election Michael Miller (3 year term), Scott Hogan (3 year term).
Michael Miller
6 Years of Service
Michael Miller is a 20 year career educator and is currently in an educational leadership role as Junior/Senior High School Principal in the Galway Central School District. He also has twenty years of experience as a social studies teacher in Saratoga Springs, including three years as president of the Saratoga Springs Teacher’s Association. Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Le Moyne College, and advanced degrees from SUNY Albany and SUNY Plattsburgh. Michael is a resident of Ballston Spa.
Scott Hogan
2 Years of Service
Scott joined the Supervisory Committee in 2023. He has lived and worked in Saratoga for most of his adult life, beginning his career roasting coffee and managing staff at Uncommon Grounds. In 2004, he founded GOGU Organic Lawn, Garden & Landscape, followed by a partnership in 2008 to help run a commercial and residential painting business, Pro Painters. Since 2011, Scott has served as the Director of Business Development at Wearlon, a manufacturer of specialty industrial coatings.
PETITION INFORMATION
Credit union members have the ability to petition for the position of Saratoga’s Community FCU Board of Directors. A petition must be submitted in accordance with the following:
The Nominating Committee will review the petition nominee application and verify the nominee’s eligibility. If qualifying nominations are received by petition, the name of the nominees will be added to the ballot. No nominee will be added to the ballot unless they are nominated by the Nominating Committee or by approved petition as stated above. Failure to follow these procedures will prevent the petition nominee
from being placed on the official ballot.
A petitioning nominee must prepare and submit the Application for Nomination, the Statement of Consent to Serve, and the Petition forms. The forms can be obtained from the Nominating Committee by calling 518.682.3354.
The Nominating Committee must receive the completed forms at the credit union office, 23 Division Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 by April 23, 2025, 4:00 PM.
At least 1% or 60 eligible voting members must sign the Petition form(s). Each member must provide his/her printed name, signature, and address for member verification.
Members were notified about Board positions in the statement insert. The petition window closes on April 23, 2025.
Associate Director Opportunity
Saratoga’s Credit Union's Board of Directors desire to supplement the knowledge and experience of the present Board by appointing Associate Directors. An Associate Director is viewed as a means by which continuity of the Credit Union’s governance activities may be maintained since an Associate Director may be asked to fill a Board vacancy when it occurs. An Associate Director does not have voting authority.
An Associate Director will be selected by ballot majority vote (5 votes) of the Board of Directors and serve a three year term. Continuation as an Associate Director will be subject to periodic Board review.
Requirements:

Must be a current Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union member in good standing

Attend a minimum of 6 board meetings per year

Attend strategic planning session

Attend all committee meetings for which appointed

Complete all required training as deemed by Executive Committee for all volunteers
