BOARD NOMINATIONS
Three positions on the Board of Directors are open for election at the 2023 Annual Meeting of Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union. The nominating committee consisting of Jane Decoteau, Timothy McGuiggan and Michael Miller has nominated three individuals for election Barbara Doane (3 year term), Richard Thompson (3 year term), and Charlene Carli (2 year term).
Richard Thompson
25+ Years of Service
Rick worked at Fulton Co. National Bank & Trust Co. starting out as a check filer (before computers), worked his way to the Savings Department and the teller line and finally became a Loan Officer. While serving as a Loan Officer, Rick was chosen to start a Master Charge program.
Rick left the Bank and started his own Landscaping & Garden Center business which he ran for 12 years and then purchased two businesses, a Dry Cleaner and a Credit Collection business. Rick has since sold both businesses and is now an owner of Saratoga Broadcasting Inc. which is an internet radio station.
Barbara Doane
3+ years of service
Barbara has brought over 45 years of experience serving on the Board of Directors of S I Employees FCU. She has been employed with Espey since 1970 in Drafting/ Engineering. Her prior experience with S I Employees FCU has consisted of serving as Secretary for approximately 35 years, then filling in on the Credit Committee and later as the Vice President.
Charlene Carli
1 Year of Service
Charlene was a teacher for Saratoga Springs City Schools from 1982 to 2016. Charlene graduated from Siena College with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and obtained her Master’s in Business and Spanish Education from SUNY Albany. Charlene also acquired her administrative certification from SUNY Albany during her time as the department head of the Business Education Department. Charlene is currently enjoying her retirement.
PETITION INFORMATION
Credit union members have the ability to petition for the position of Saratoga’s Community FCU Board of Directors. A petition must be submitted in accordance with the following:
The Nominating Committee will review the petition nominee application and verify the nominee’s eligibility. If qualifying nominations are received by petition, the name of the nominees will be added to the ballot. No nominee will be added to the ballot unless they are nominated by the Nominating Committee or by approved petition as stated above. Failure to follow these procedures will prevent the petition nominee
from being placed on the official ballot.
A petitioning nominee must prepare and submit the Application for Nomination, the Statement of Consent to Serve, and the Petition forms. The forms can be obtained from the Nominating Committee by calling 518.682.3354.
The Nominating Committee must receive the completed forms at the credit union office, 23 Division Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 by April 21, 2022, 3:00 PM.
At least 1% or 60 eligible voting members must sign the Petition form(s). Each member must provide his/her printed name, signature, and address for member verification.
Members were notified about Board positions in the Winter 2023 newsletter. The petition window closes on April 21, 2023.
Associate Director Opportunity
Saratoga’s Credit Union's Board of Directors desire to supplement the knowledge and experience of the present Board by appointing Associate Directors. An Associate Director is viewed as a means by which continuity of the Credit Union’s governance activities may be maintained since an Associate Director may be asked to fill a Board vacancy when it occurs. An Associate Director does not have voting authority.
An Associate Director will be selected by ballot majority vote (5 votes) of the Board of Directors and serve a three year term. Continuation as an Associate Director will be subject to periodic Board review.
Requirements:

Must be a current Saratoga’s Community Federal Credit Union member in good standing

Attend a minimum of 6 board meetings per year

Attend strategic planning session

Attend all committee meetings for which appointed

Complete all required training as deemed by Executive Committee for all volunteers
